“Do you have a servant heart?” - Leon
Why is it the broken, the hurt, and the lowly people that Jesus says receive the kingdom of God? (Luke 6:20-26). And why does he constantly warn us against being in the elite groups. It's not because Jesus hated the popular kids. No, It’s because the elite, the top, the ones who see themselves as worthy, lack an understanding of true Holiness. In the passage it is clear that no one in the history of mankind (other than Jesus) has Loved God and his neighbor with all his heart, every time! We just don't naturally love like that EVERY time. But instead, we, like the lawyer “desiring to justify” ourselves in front of God. Try and twist things around to make it look less sinful or as if we are not sinners. We do this all in order to not show others, or ourselves, our true weakness and sinful heart. This is the opposite of the Gospel! Jesus is worshipped and lifted high, when you confess your deep need for Him, because of our lack of righteousness. Not when you self justify your lack of holiness and your lack of need for his death and resurrection. So with all this in mind - Read Luke 10:25-42 and fall at the feet of Jesus Christ and worship him with your life.
