Saved to Hate Sin - Delancy Walker
“God is love” --- It seems the Christian world is obsessed with saying this and it rings true every day I wake up and realize that God chose to save me. But God has been revealing to me, that I have been focusing so much on His love that I have forgotten that He is also wrathful towards sin. God hates that we sin, that we choose something lesser than Him. The wrath of God has wiped out nations. But He has enough grace and mercy to save us from a fate of eternal death. Our sin is not something to take lightly, it put Jesus on the cross and God did not save us to continue in our sin.
“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?” - Romans 6:1-2.
We are saved to hate sin just as much as God does so that we might turn away from it. I have abused His mercy. If my life were at risk, I would do everything I could to save my life- go through surgery, take medicine, etc. However when it comes to bringing glory to God and turning away from my sin I do everything I can do to find an excuse not to. True fear of God demands obedience. God is love, mercy, and wrathful towards sin. God is my Abba, my redeemer, my judge. God is great, and this week I am challenged to give Him the fear He deserves.
