Journaling to Meet with God - Katelyn Cardwell
When I signed up to write a blog this week I can honestly say I had no idea what I was getting into. Not to say I have not throughly enjoyed it, but there is definitely something to be said for the insane amount of pages I have used in my notebook trying to take notes of everything this week. It was not until Wednesday night at Homegroups, that I realized all of the notes I had been taking allowed me to be more engaged in what I was learning and helped to keep new knowledge at the forefront of my mind. Journaling, both in a lesson setting or simply in a quiet time and space with the Lord, has become something extremely beneficial to my spiritual walk in the last week.
As believers, we can use a journal as private space to open our hearts and meet with God. By writing down and recording our thoughts, prayers, and important pieces of scripture, we allow ourselves to be candid with the Lord. In our honesty and openness we are able to find peace in who God is and His never ending love for us. Journaling is unique in that we are able to look back on past struggles and lessons and continue to learn and sees the Lord’s goodness in them. We can see the way God has worked in our lives and been faithful to us by answering our prayers. We can also see the unexpected turns and unanswered prayers that came to benefit us in a way we were blind to during our struggle. Journaling can be used as a starting place in your personal walk with the Lord. Everyone has differing ways to gain more of the Lord, but this is one that has benefited me. Whatever way of spending time with the Lord in impactful to you, I would like to encourage you to take time this week to listen and meditate on what the Lord is putting on your heart.
