Portrait of Jesus - Lexie Mitchell
In art class, we recently did a charcoal portrait unit. When it came to who to draw, the doors were wide open: we were just to portray someone who inspired us, whether that be a family member, or a celebrity didn't matter. Being the human I am, I never am able to give God the glory He deserves. He's infinite, holy, and beautiful in a way my mind cannot even begin to comprehend. But, I can understand that He's the reason I draw breath, that He's the only One who can truly satisfy my need for fulfillment, for love. He's given me everything. And, though it's not much, I want everything I am and everything I do to be His. So, when asked to draw someone who was important to me, Jesus was my first thought. I wanted to praise Him through the process of making this piece. If this portrait inspires anything, I hope that it helps others focus, or refocus, on the God that loves us so much, enough to pay the ultimate price, just so that we could be with Him.
